DR. KING'S LEGACY
What is MLK Day and why do we celebrate?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an official federal holiday in the United States, observed on the third Monday of January. It serves as a tribute to the influential civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his enduring impact on society. The annual celebration is scheduled to occur on the Monday nearest to January 15th, which marks Dr. King's birthday.
This holiday provides an opportunity to honor and commemorate Dr. King's significant contributions to the advancement of civil rights, equality, and nonviolent activism.
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Unity Weekend is to provide resources for students attending institution's of higher learning, promote education, showcase high-level high HBCU basketball and to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of leadership through unity, community and scholarship.
OUR GOAL
The goal of the "Unity" Invitational Weekend is to foster career opportunities for current and future student-athletes at institution's of higher learning through networking, economic inclusion, and corporate mentorship.
